Dolphin Plus: Some Tips You May Interested in Before the Riding

For the first batch of Dolphin STD/PLUS, there are three tips we would like to share with all Quali-bikers for a better riding experience.

1. Non-zero Startup

The first batch of Dolphin STD/PLUS comes with the default setting of Non-zero Startup, which means the ebike won't run by pressing the throttle control while it stands still. In other words, it needs some external force to get an initial speed and start running. (The throttle won't be enabled until the bike is moving and PAS working.) Non-zero Startup is settled for safety concerns and can prevent injuries caused by accidental touching of the throttle.

2. Sequence of Consuming the Battery

Dolphin Plus comes with a dual battery mode and two batteries. One is a removable 48V 7Ah tube battery, while the other is a 48V 10.5Ah seat post battery. There is a Power Button on the tube battery that you need to press manually every time you want to use it and make sure the battery is well secured in the frame. For example, you can pull the handle of the tube battery to see if it’s secured tightly. Otherwise, the BMS cannot recognize it and automatically switch to the seat post battery. When both batteries are powered on, the smart BMS will first consume the tube battery, and the Display will only show the battery capacity of it. When the tube battery gets depleted or the BMS monitors that the voltage drops under 41V, it will AUTOMATICALLY switch to consume the seatpost battery without rider intervention, and the bike gonna nonstop continue to run. Also, please note this: Due to the tube battery not automatically turning off after each ride, please turn it off manually via the Power Button, or it will remain in standby status.

3. Ways of Charging batteries

1) Charge the seat post battery separately.

There's a charging port on the top of the battery; uncover the cap and connect it to the charger. When the charger is plugged into the socket, you will see the indicator light turns red from green. The indicator light will turn green from red when the battery is fully charged. The seat post battery can be charged on the bike or taken off and charged separately in your room or office.

2) Charge the tube battery separately.

You need to unfold the bike and take the tube battery out of the frame first. There's a charging port at the end of the battery; uncover the cap and connect it to the charger. The indicator light turns red from green when the charger is plugged into the socket. The indicator light will turn green from red when the battery is fully charged.

3) Charge two batteries simultaneously.

There's a charging port on the controller box. Uncover the cap and connect it to the charger. When the charger is plugged into the socket, the indicator light turns red from green. The BMS will choose to charge the tube battery first. When this charging finishes, the light turns green for a while and then back to red to start charging the second battery.

the non zero start is a mistake; you zeroed out the best safety feature of an e bike. when riding around pedestrians and dogs the throttle lets you drag both feet and go real slow; this applies to every bike trail in the US; put the throttle back on all the time

My dual battery Dolphin is the 6th qualisports bike I’ve owned. With the others I could use the throttle to move from a dead stop, the dual battery must be moving before I can use the throttle. Is there a way I can change the settings to enable the throttle to work from a dead stop? It would be very helpful. Thanks.
